Text: OBITUARY.
MR. H.L. JAMES.
The death occurred at his residence, Woorilla, Cheltenham Road, Cheltenham, last week, of Mr Henry Layton James, at the age of 80 years. He was a life long resident of New South Wales. Born in Sydney on 3 May 1845, Mr James was the son of the late Mr Layton O'Dell David James, who was a member of the firm of Bradley and James, solicitors. He was educated at Calder House, and later entered the office of his father, then practicing at Mudgee. In 1872 he was admitted as a solicitor. Three years later he married, and commenced practice at Casino, where he resided for many years. Subsequently he practiced at Bellingen until his retirement in 1919. A widow and six children survive him, his three sons being Messrs. Lawrence Henry James, of Casino, Walter Hubert James, of Kyogle, and Richard Ernest James of the Commonwealth Bank, Brisbane. A private interment took place at Carlingford, the Rev. J. Young, officiating/
