CENTRAL CRIMINAL COURT (Before his Honor the Chief Justice.)... BULLI PASS FATALITY. JOHNSON CONVICTED. The hearing was concluded of the charges against Louis Johnson, 37, motor garage proprietor, of having feloniously slain Victoria May Hockley, at Bulli Pass on August 8. Mr. Mack K.C., with him Mr. A.G. Young (Instructed by Mr A.A. Markham) appeared for the accused. The case against Johnson was that, while returning from Wollongong on the evening of August 7 his car struck John F. Conroy and Miss Hockley. Conroy was killed instantly, and Miss Hockley died next morning at Bulli Hospital. The accused was convicted, with a strong recommendation to mercy on account of his previous good character. He was remanded for sentence.
