Microfilm Roll 88, Class and Piece Number HO11/2, Page Number 328 Text: James Lord, one of 220 convicts transported on the ship Lord Eldon, April 1817. Text: Arrived 30 Sep 1817 Text: In 1815 aged about 37 he and another man were arrested and charged with burglary in the market town of Ledbury in which eight gold guineas had been stolen. He was sentenced to death at the March 1816 Hereford Assizes. The sentence was commuted to seven years transportation. James was described as being 5'7" with black hair, hazel eyes and a dark sallow complexion. |
