IN MEMORIAM. DORRINGTON. - In memory of my dear Brother, Francis Dorrington, who died on the 14th June, 1901. Thou art gone, but thy memory lingers, Thy rest in heaven, thy rest is not here; Thy life scoll is marked with angelic fingers, Then why should we murmur when trials are near? Be hushed his sweet spirit, and balm to our sorrow, This ___________________________ Through gloom of the night, shines the sun of the morrow, And the future is marked in letters of gold. Inserted by his loving sister Mary A. Dorrington.

From the "Singleton Argus, Saturday,22 June, 1901:- "DEATHS- DORRINGTON .— On June 11th [sic], 1901, at Singleton, Francis, beloved Husband of Annie Dorrington, of Broke, in his 62nd year."

From the same publication, Saturday, 15 June, 1901:-"OBITUARY.Death of Mr. F. Dorrington. Last week we announced the sudden and serious illnees of Mr. Frank Dorrington, Senr., and although his condition at that time caused the greatest anxiety to his relatives and friends, it was hoped his hitherto robust health would enable him to pull through. But it was not to be, and now it is our sorrowful duty to chronicle his death, which took place at 8.45 yesterday morning. The deceased was well known in this district, and universally respected, and the news of his death will come as a surprise and shock to many of his old friends who had not heard of his illness. The circumstances surrounding his death are unusually sad, inasmuch as he left home in the full enjoyment of his health, and was overtaken with a severe cold, which led up to the fatal complications. Last week he came to town, accompanied by Mrs Dorrington, in connection with some land business, and caught cold, followed by violent shivering. He was taken to the residence of Mrs Eather (an old family friend), and Dr. Irwin was called in. Pleurisy and pneumonia in virulent form developed, and, notwithstanding all that medical skill and tender nursing could do, the patient slowly sank and finally passed away peacefully as stated above. Mr.Dorrington was 61 years of age, and was a native of the Campbelltown dis trict, having been born at Appin, but came to Singleton when eight years of age, almost immediately settling in the old village of Broke, where he resided up to the time of his death, so that his connection with the Singleton district embraced more than half a century. The deceased leaves a wife and grown up family, who, with the excep tion of one, are married and settled in life, and to these we extend our deepest sympathy. The funeral will leave Singleton this morning at 9 o'clock for Broke, where the remains will be interred in the Church of England cemetery."

Death May 23, 1930 (aged 87 years)
