At Cambridge, Richard Beavis and William Prior, the former for a burglary at Stapleford, and the latter for stealing from a dwelling house at Granchester, were both capitally convicted, and received sentence of death, but were reprieved.

Most Humbly Sheweth
That your Excellency's Petitioner arrived in this Colony per ship Guilford (1) in the year 1812.
That he is a prisoner for life as is also his wife who arrived per Ship Wanstead in 1814.
That Your Excellency's Petitioner has six young children whose support is dependent on Petitioner's manual labour, and being a prisoner without permission to work for settlers under existing Government Orders, Most Humbly implores your Excellency will be pleased to bestow upon him such an indulgence as will enable him to obtain a support for his family
And Petitioner as in
duty bound will ever pray
