"Between the hours of 4 and 6 in the evening of Sunday last a robbery was effected in the house of Thos. Andrews, in Pitt's Row; and 9 and a half guineas were taken out of a trunk and between 40 and 50 dollars. Two men were same evening apprehended on vehement suspicion of the offence, and several guineas being found about them, still strengthened the suspicion for which they were in the first instance indebted to the over-caution of the principal in the fact. On Tuesday the above men, viz. A. Snowden and J. Evans, were examined; and after a close chain of presumptive evidence being taken on deposition, both were remanded."
