DEATH OF AN OLD RESIDENT. - The death occurred at his residence, High-street, last night, of Mr. James Waller, a very old resident of the town. Mr Waller was a native of Sussex England and came out with his wife to this State in 1855, landing at Morpeth in December, and coming straight to Maitland, where both had lived every since. A carpenter by trade, Mr Waller was well known to all the old hands in this district and for years he had a big business. Of late years, however, he had retired from active work. A healthy man, he had been able to get about almost up to the last. For a time, however, he had been laid up, and the heat of yesterday hastened his end, which was due to old age. Deceased was about 67 years of age. He leaves a widow and six sons and two daughters (the latter all grown up). The funeral will take place at four o'clock to-morrow afternoon.

Burial 19 December 1901 (aged 67 years)
