A Bigga Pioneer Passes MRS. LOUISA HEARN {From Our Correspondent.) One of Bigga's oldest residents and a district pioneer in the person of Mrs. Louisa Hearn, widow of the late Charles Hearn who predeceased her 12 years ago, passed away at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. Charles Farley, Crookwell, on Friday night last, after an illness of about 12 months. The demise, however, was due, to an attack of influenza, which she contracted recently. Bronchitis and ultimately pneumonia intervened, and this was actually the cause of the old lady's death. The late Mrs. Hearn was born at Bigga 82 years ago, and can be jus tifiably regarded as one of Bigga's if not Bigga's oldest; native-born re sidents. She had continually, at least until two years ago, lived near Bigga, and a greater portion of the time mentioned on her property, Pine Gully. The last two years she has resided with her daughter, as pre viously mentioned, who has attended to her comfort and health as only a devoted daughter can. The old lady was of a cheerful dis position, kind hearted and an excel lent neighbor. She was highly re spected by every one who had the pleasure of her acquaintance. It can be truly said that it has been due to this type of pioneer that Australia's isolated districts have de veloped. These sturdy pioneers with stout hearts and grim determination have built up under difficulties of many kinds and purely from then own exertions comfortable homes and sound banking accounts. It is to this fine type of pioneer that the late Mrs. Hearn belonged. The deceased is survived by eight childern. The sons are Thomas (Abercrombie), Sam (Pine Gully, Bigga), Fred- (The Forest, Reid's Flat) and George (Bigga); and the daughters are Mesdames C. Farley (Crookwell), S. and H. Rudd (Lag gan) and J. Tranter (Bigga). The funeral, which took place on Monday afternoon last, was a large and representative one, the remains being interred in the Church of Eng land portion of the Bigga Cemetery. The service both at the Church and the graveside was conducted by the Rev. C. L. Robertson, who in an ear nest address conveyed to the ber eaved family the whole of the dis trict's deepest and sincere sympathy.

George McDonald and Vida Tranter married in 1934. They had 2 children - Vera Doreen McDonald (ME) born 19.9.1934 and an earlier child - a boy who was born in June 1928 at a Private Hospital in Orange where pregnant single girls from the Bigga/Crookwell area went to have their babies - they were employed as tray maids at a local private hospital in Orange whilst they awaited the birth and the babies were taken from them and given to young childless Catholic couples - this whole scheme was organised by a Catholic Welfare Association in Orange who was run by a local chemist whose wife and 2 sisters ran Dudley Private Hospital and organised the handing over of the children to young childless Catholic couples who then went down to the Court House and registered the child as having been born to them.
