Text:

DEATH OF NATHANIEL JAMES EADY. It is our painful duty (writes Temora "Independent") to chronicle the death of Mr. James Eady, whereby another link in the all too rapidly diminishing chain of early Australian pioneers, has been severed. The late Mr. Eady, who was 72 years of age, had resided in this district for about 23 years, and followed farming pursuits, his late residence being at Northcote, about ten miles from Temora. His health had been very indifferent during the past few years but it was only during the last fortnight that he was confined to his bed. A native of West End, London, the deceased arrived in Australia at the age of seven years. In the early days, when the bushrangers were busy, he carried the mails from Young to Morangorell, and on one occasion he was stuck up by the outlaws of the bush. Later on he went to Tubbul and then came to Temora. His aged widow, seven sons and give daughters survive, as well as 30 grandchildren. The daughters are Mesdames M. Duncan, A. Curtin, E. Bannan (Sydney), Fish and R. Keen (Temora), the sons being Messts. james, Robert, Nathaniel, William, Charles, Victor, Ernest, Albert, Dennis Henry, John George (all of Temora), and Frederick Arthur (Canowindra). The funeral took place on Tuesday, the remains being interred in the Church of England portion of the cemetery.
