MR. ARTHUR E. VERNON. The death took place at the Cessnock District Hospital on August 9th of Arthur ("Harry") Vernon, through acute pneumonia. Deceased was 58 years of age. He was born at Lamb's Valley but resided in the Cessnock district for fifity years where [he] was well known and highly respected. For a number of years he was a teamster in the Congewai district. Rev. Mr. McCulloch conducted a short service at the home of his mother. Deceased was interred in the Church of England portion of the Cessnock Cemetery, alongside the remains of his father, who predeceased him twelve years ago. Rev. Stephenson of Ellalong, with Rev. Mr. McCulloch, of Bellbird, officiated at the graveside. The chief mourners were his mother Mrs. S. Vernon (Mount View), Mrs. P. Radnidge and Mrs. R.G. Butler (Cessnock) and Mrs. H. Jackson and Mrs. H.D. Johnson (Bellbird) sisters; Bill, Fred, Aub., Jeff and Milton brothers; F.E. Heywood and J. Heywood (Manilla) uncles; Mrs. Pryor (Tamworth) auntie; Roy and Maud Heywood (Tamworth), cousins.
