Text:

On Saturday, the 10th of June instant, Mr. Thomas Griffith [sic], a respectable young man of extensive connections in this Colony was riding a Race, in company with Jeremiah Hill, at Richmond, when the horse rode by Griffith stumbled, and fell against Hill's horse, and both horses came upon their knees. The girths of both saddles broke, and Griffith had a violent fall, and was so much injured that he died in about 14 hours afterwards. Griffith spoke sensibly for about 10 minutes after he had been thrown, and was exceedingly anxious to be laid down; he complained of a pain in the head, but soon became insensible, although not in apparent agony, and lost his speech. The accident happened about 6 o'clock in the evening, and he expired about 8 next morning. - Verdict of an Inquisition - Accidental Death.
