Text:

It is with deep regret that we have to record the death of Mr. Archibald Rough- ley, which took place on Saturday last, Feb. 17th, at the Parramatta District Hospital, to which institution he had been taken early in the week, suffering from pneuouonia. It was expected that the patient would have recovered suffi- ciently to return home again ere long, and the news of his death came as a great shock to the residents of the dis- trict. Mr. Roughley, had just reached his fiftieth year. He became seriously ill on Saturday morning, and his wife and family were sent for, and they remained with him to the end. The burial took place on Monday, in the Methodist ceme- tery, Dural, Rev. W.Dyer officiating. A large concourse of relatives and friends attended to pay their last respects to the deceased. Mr. Roughley leaves a widow, three sons, and one daughter, to mourn their loss. The eldest son is at present in England. Deceased was the youngest son of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Roughley of Dural, and was loved and respected by all who know him. He took a great interest in the local cricket club, and was a member of the Parents and Citizens' Association, and also of the Sol- diers' Memorial Hall Committee. Many beautiful wreaths were placed on the grave, including one from the local cric- ket club, the P. and C. Association, and the Soldiers' Memorial Hall members. Mr. W. Metcalfe conducted the funeral arrangements.
