Prisoner's No: 33/317

Year: 1833
Native Place: Newcastle upon Tyne
Trade or calling: dairymaid
Offence...

Complexion: pale

Text:

On 7 Feb 1834 Maria, a servant, was admitted to gaol at Port Stephens for a 3rd class offence, receiving 2 months gaol. She was 'disposed of' to the 'Factory'.

Engagement
Text:

Parker als [alias] Attmore, Jno [John] age 39 'Ocean' life, TL [ticket of leave], stated single
Robson, Maria 27 'Diana' 7 years, bonded, stated single
Applied Nov 12 and granted permission to marry by [C of E minister] H. Fulton at Castlereagh on Nov 24 1834

Text:

I have listed this information under the heading of 'engagement' for want of a more accurate term. Although they were granted permission to marry, there is no evidence of this marriage going ahead. John already had a wife whom he had married prior to his transportation and three children who all emigrated aboard the ship 'Charles Hibbert' arriving in NSW in Dec 1834. It is probable that Sophia Maria Smith (born September 1834) was a product of John Parker's relationship with Maria Robson.

Religious marriage
Text:

James was described as a dairyman. They were married by Banns at St Johns Church of England. Witnesses were William Thurlston and Charlotte (who made her X mark), both of Parramatta.

Maria Robson 28 'Diana' 7 years, bonded, stated widow and having five children applied Sep 24 and were granted permission to marry on Oct 7 1835 by Samuel Marsden at Parramatta.
