Arrived Sydney on the ship "William Metcalf" on 13 March 1844. On arrival in Australia Jabez was taken into temporary employment by the Government. Bounty per head 18 pounds 16 shillings and children per head 9 pounds 7 shillings. Total bounty for whole family was 65 pounds 9 shillings. On arrival a residence was secured with postal address care Mr Windle, Wellington St Chippendale Sydney.
