FATAL ACCIDENT AT PARRAMATTA. A well-known resident of Parramatta, Mr. Edward Braddick, an employee at the Sydney Meat Preserving Company's works at Auburn, met with a fatal accident yesterday morning. He was riding on horseback to his work when, near the bridge on the Sydney-road, opposite the chlorination works at Clyde, the horse stumbled over some metal which had been newly laid, and fell with Braddick underneath. A maintenance man named Hildsen, who was working about 100 yards away, hastened to the unfortunate man's assistance, and at his request got him a drink of water. He was then lying on his right side near the footpath, and in great pain. He said, 'I am done' and then became unconscious. He was removed to Hill's Hotel close by, and then to Parramatta Hospital, were he died shortly after admission - about an hour from the time the accident happened. Deceased was 35 years of age, and leaves a widow and six children. An inquest was held in the afternoon at the Parramatta Courthouse by the Parramatta District Coroner, Mr. T. E. McNevis, P.M. Dr. Bowman, who made a post-mortem examination, stated that death was caused by compression of the upper part of the spinal cord, due to a fracture of the second vertebral bone. The jury returned a verdict of accidental death.
