John had two blocks adjoining his brother's properties in 1833 and 1834. They were of 30 acres and 40 acres near the present (1979) Jenner Road.

John lived in the inn built by his father (the Lamb and Lark), and on his father's death inherited it. He sold it in 1838 and moved to his father's home 'Pye Farm' and carried this on successfully.

Between the Bellamy and Allen grants on Castle Hill Road, was 50 acres granted to John Delaney in 1818. By deed poll, it was exchanged with John Jones for other land held by the latter. In 1841, Jones sold to John Pye.
John lived in the 'Lamb and Lark Inn' until he sold it in 1838, and then he went to live at 'Pye Farm'.

Pye's Creek, which meanders across New Line Road and David Road (1979), remembers James, Thomas and John Pye, sons of convicts John and Mary Pye.
(In 1189, members of the family of John Pye, declared in a Statutory Declaration that they were entitled to his estate which included in it the 50 acres granted to John Delaney at Pennant Hills. These claimants were: Mary Elizabeth Jenner, widow; Charles Jenner, gentleman; Richard Yeoman, solicitor; Alice Rosanna Pearce (nee Jenner); Amy Elizabeth Jenner; Matthew Squire Pearce and Ellen Nash Jenner.
However, the Excelsior Land Investment and Building Co. and Bank Ltd. purchased that 50 acre block, which was then transferred to Edith Pape Heron in 1890.)
