In 1873 Henry became a church trustee and in 1888 when a growing congregation necessitated the building of a second and larger church, he gave an adjoining portion of his land for this, plus an extension of the burial ground. Henry and sons Daniel, Lewis and Seth were trustees of the new church, and 'Mrs H. Pogson' was listed as one of the ladies responsible for the large tea-meeting held after the opening service.
