Ellen's obituary told of her 'deep interest in the welfare of the district and by her kindly disposition and readiness to help in times of sickness and trouble, she endeared herself to all with whom she came into contact. For many years she was an active member of the Wesleyan Church, a teacher in the Sabbath School and till a short time before her death was always a regular attendant at Divine Worship.'
