Text: Ann and George with their baby daughter suffered severely in the floods that swamped the lowlands in 1809. Although reduced to accepting government aid of rations and blankets, George neither lost heart or fell behind in debt. Evidence of good financial standing was his acquisition of a cow on credit from the government herds. She cost him £28. |

Text: George received is Conditional Pardon in 1810, and he was alloted 3 and a third acres in the newly gazetted town of Wilberforce which Governor Macquarie had founded to provide safe living areas for flood-prone landholders who were flooded out in 1809. |
