Text:

DISTRESSING FATALITY. A very distressing accident, involving the death of an eighteen-month-old child, occurred at Rosebank, Greenbank, on Wednesday forenoon. The unfortunate child was Brian, son of Mr and Mrs Campbell, 28 Scott Street, and while on a visit to his grandparents, Mr and Mrs John McCord, of Rosebank. he was run over by a mobile shop van at which his grandmother had been making purchases. How the accident happened is not quite clear, the child being found in the roadway after the van had moved forward. The grandmother, when she found the child behind the van in the first instance, took him back to the house, but he must have come out unseen to the roadway. The van is one of the type in which the driver has access to the driving cabin directly from the van, and had therefore no chance of seeing the child near the wheels.
