Thrombosis of left femoral - embolism of heart, suddenly. 10.45 p.m. aged 61. Samuel was described as a shale miner. The informant was Thomas McCord, his son.

SUDDEN DEATH. - On Sunday night Mr Sam McCord, 60 years of age, died suddenly in his home at Pyothall Road. He had attended both services on Sunday in Broxburn Parish Church, in which he was an elder, and after returning from the evening service he took ill while sitting at tea. He was persuaded to go to bed, but quickly;y collapsed and passed away with alarming suddenness. Deceased, who belonged to Rathkenny in the North of Ireland, came to Broxburn some 40 years ago, and followed the occupation of a miner until about 3 years ago. He was a quiet, much-respected man, and was a member of the Mechanics, gardeners and of L.O.L. "Pentland" No. 219 Mid Calder. He was late District Master in the last mentioned. The funeral took place on Wednesday to Uphall Cemetery where the body was interred with Orange honours, representatives being present from Lodes No. 249, No. 44, and No 54 and Bro. Rev. William MacWhirter M.A. officiating. Deceased leaves three sons and 4 daughters all of whom are married except one.
