Frederick was wounded with a bullet to his thigh at Gallipoli on about 25-30 Apr 1915. He was admitted to hospital on 2 May 1915 and then to a convalescent camp on 27 May 1915. He rejoined his unit on 9 Jul 1915. He was reported missing on 7-12 Aug 1915 He was, as a result of a court inquiry declared killed in action some time between 7 to 12 Aug 1915 on 20 Oct 1916.
