Text: Sarah was probably convicted at Winchester Assizes for breaking, entering and stealing and sentenced to hanging on 5 Mar 1799. This was later commuted to life imprisonment with transporation. She was transported aboard the ship Nile which departed Spithead 21 Jun 1801 and arrived in the colony on 14 Dec 1801. |

Text: Research over 37 yrs has proven Thomas Reynolds was the illegitimate son of Sarah Pearce and father unknown (and not Thomas Reynolds) as Thomas Reynolds senior was only in Australia for a couple of months when young one was born and Sarah Pearce was living with him. Young Thomas was christened as Reynolds. Hard to convince some as they want him to be the son of First Fleeters William Douglas and Mary Groves. |
