Another inquest was held, on Friday night, at
the Barley Mow, Castlereagh-street, on the body
of Robin McAlister, aged 70 years, an old inha-
bitant of Sydney. It appeared in evidence that
he left his house about 8 o'clock on the morning
of that day with a horse and cart, for the pur-
pose of procuring wood, and was found at a
place called Big Cudgee about 3 in the afternoon
the cart upset, the horse struggling, and the de-
ceased quite dead, lying under the railing of the
cart. Verdict - "Accidentally killed by the
upsetting of the cart."

DISTRESSING ACCIDENT - A very
old and respected inhabitant of Sydney, named
Robin McAlister, residing in Castlereagh-street,
met his death on Friday last in a very lamentable
manner. The old gentleman left home in the morn-
ing, with his horse and cart, for the purpose of
procuring some roots, for fuel; with this intent he
was passing along the Botany road, sitting, it is
supposed, in the cart, when in passing over a stump
it capsized, throwing him to the ground, and,
falling upon him, crushed him so severely as to
occasion his death, which, there is reason to believe,
took place almost instantaneously. His prolonged
absence from home induced his family to despatch
a messenger after him in the afternoon, who
found him as above described, and the horse on
the point of strangulation, from the entanglement
of the harness.

FATAL ACCIDENT. - An old man named Robin McAlister, who used to set his living by vending fuel about the streets of Sydney, seems to have met his death in rather a singular way. On Friday last, he left home in his cart, and some hours after, on the Botany Road, the cart was discovered upside down - the horse plunging in the horrors of strangulation, owing to the pressure of the collar, and the old man under the cart - dead. The conjecture is, that while sitting in his cart, jogging along the road, the wheel on one side rose on a stump, when the vehicle, losing its equilibrium, fell over on the other, and the old man falling under, was crushed to death by the weight of his own cart. How truly apt the words of the Psalmist - "In the midst of life we are in death."
