Daniel returned to Sydney with the NSW Corps in Nov 1794. Mary eventually returned to Sydney with her children John and Daniel and rejoined Daniel Snr. They were back on Norfolk Island in 1803.

"Daniel Humm... this humbly sheweth
That your Excellency's Memorialist has been twenty three years a soldier, twenty of which he has served in the colony and twelve years of that time as a Sergeant, and he has a wife and seven children and Memorialist having a house for the residence of his family which at [illegible] times has lost him a considerable sum of money, and expecting that on the arrival of the 93 Regt he might have to leave this country and his family behind, this urged him to [illegible] every possible means in his power to put the said house in so good [illegible] and to solicit from the Late Lieut. Governor a lease of the said house and and premises which his Honour in consideration of Memorialists large family together with his long and faithful servitude was please to grant him.
And memorialist in compliance to your Excellency's order has given up the said lease for your inspection humbly begging that his family may be taken into your consideration and that..."

Indies after serving there in various en
gagements (commencing with the siege and
Capture of Kandy) during a period of 27 years
he returned to his Native land rewarded
with a pension for his services but with
such an emaciated body worn and
wounded that it sank shortly after
his return.
