DIED. At his residence, Wilberforce, on the 4th June last, Mr. John Cobcroft, aged 90 years, an old and much respected colonist, leaving an aged widow, three sons and five daughters, fifty-eight grand-children, and forty-seven great grand-children to deplore their loss.

John was buried in a family vault. An obituary notice in the 'Sydney Morning Herald' stated that he left 58 grandchildren and 47 great grandchildren. His wife was buried with him on 2 Jun 1857 and their headstone survives in Wilberforce cemetery. Their descendants are estimated to number in excess of 8,000.

Tho death was announced yesterday of Mr. Alfred McMnnis, a member, of thp old Parramatta family, brother, of Messrs. Arthur and Rowley McManis. Mr. Alfred McManis was a famous musician of old Parramatta in the days when a local con cert programme- was not complete unless it contained such names as those of Mrs. Manton, Mr. Alfred McManis, perhaps with those of Miss Green nnd Mr. Wats ford.- Mr. McManis -was a prominent Freemason of Parramatta and for years was organist of the lodge St. George. Of later years he has not been much in evidence in Parramatta, the, advance of years meaning of course less ability than usual to get about much.
