Kevin began his working life on 19 Mar 1934 as a junior porter at Woy Woy. He was employed as a shunter at Gosford, followed by a period at Newcastle Railway Station as a member of the relief staff until 22 Jan 1945. He was then transferrred to Monteagle in the capacity of 5th Class Assistant Master at Maimuru, Monteagle. On 6 Oct 1952 he transferred to Herne Bay Railway Station (now Riverwood) and on 9 May 1955 he transferred to the position of 3rd Assistant Station Master at Canterbury. He retired from this position on 2 Aug 1978 and received a gold watch in appreciation of his 44 years of service. The watch is now passed down to Kevin's descendants.
