John Hughes, 19, could read and write, Protestant, single, native of Flintshire, a painter, convicted of house breaking at Lancaster (Liverpool) Quarter Sessions, 18 Jan 1836, 14 years, former conviction of 6 months, 5 feet 4 and a quarter inches tall, fair ruddy complexion, brown hair and brown eyes, small slight scar left jaw, blue dot back of ball of right thumb, scar back of fore, middle and third fingers of right hand, five dots back of upper left arm, several dotes back of left hand, ring, middle and third fingers of same, four dots right shin.
