Samuel Sandall: Surrey Summer Assizes held at Guildford starting 25 July 1796. PRO Ref. ASSI 35/236/8 Felony file: Samuel SANDALL committed 30 April 1796 by Benjamin ROBERTSON and Peter BROADBY esq., charged on oaths of John Rowland & others with feloniously stealing taking and carrying away in the said county one lamb, property of said John ROWLAND. Indictment: Samuel SANDALL late of the parish of St Mary, Lambeth, labourer, .. on 29 April Geo. III (ie 1796) .. stealing one wether lamb price 15 shillings of John ROWLAND .. Sentence - to be hanged by the neck until dead. Written on back of document: Reprieved. To be transported for life.

The name of the man mentioned last week to have been found dead of an apoplexy near Parra- matta was Sandal not Randall, as stated in the account. He had in the forenoon gone into the brush for fuel; and in the afternoon was discovered by two persons led thither upon a similar errand, who at going observed a dog attentively stationed at a particular spot; and upon their return again observing the animal, examined and found the body.
