Text:

The informant on the death registration of George Richard Griffiths registered 18 Nov 1878 was Mary Griffiths, described as 'wife', of 115 Lower George Street. No marriage certificate can be located. I tend to believe that Mary, her husband probably having died, was George's partner/housekeeper. He had young children to care for and support. In addition, George's funeral notice in SMH gave no mention of a wife.
