Shared note |
Frederick carried on farming, first at Gum Creek, then at W onna near Terowie. During those years great hardship was endured with years of drought and very few harvests. Leaving the North, Frederick and his family went to Kadina, where he again engaged in farming, this time with his wife's father, Thomas Cowley. Frederick joined the Primitive Methodist Church at Pancharpoo and gave his first sermon at the age of 19 years. Throughout his life he used his great gift as a preacher, not only for the people called Methodists, but gave his services freely to all who wanted him, believing as he did, that the religion of our Lord Jesus Christ is bigger than the boundaries set by denominationalism. After the hard toil of the week he spent long hours riding or driving to keep his appointments on Sunday. |
